For almost three decades, Tri-State Aluminum has been an established leader in the manufacture of standard and custom aluminum extrusion and fabricated aluminum products. We possess a range of advanced and state-of-the-art extrusion equipment capable of handling billets up to 18 inches (450 mm) in diameter. Final extruded component lengths can vary anywhere between 25 feet to 50 feet depending on the required surface finish.
Our team of technical experts and skilled craftsmen possess the knowledge and experience to work on projects of any complexity, from simple components for domestic use to complex engineered systems for the building and construction industry. Our extruded products are used in a variety of applications including automotive parts, consumer appliances, electronic cabinetry, filtration systems, railings, signs and awnings, and electronic instrumentation.
Aluminum extrusion is defined as the process of using intense pressures to force aluminum through the shaped opening of a die to create a desired profile or shape. The extruded material emerges behind the die as an elongated workpiece with the same shape as the die.
During the extrusion process, an aluminum log, or billet, is heated uniformly to a temperature which makes the metal malleable (typically between 800o F to 1000o F depending on the alloy temper requirements). Next, the die which the billet needs to be pushed through is also heated.
The heated billet is then loaded onto a press container where a ram pushes the aluminum billet until it completely exits through the other end of the die. Once the material is extruded, it is rapidly cooled, stretched, and sawed to the appropriate working lengths. The final extruded product is then aged to the desired temper and dispatched for further downstream processes.
