Standard Aluminum Extrusions From Tri-State Aluminum

At Tri-State Aluminum, we have created standard 6000 series aluminum extrusions, including aluminum 6005/6005A, aluminum 6061 and aluminum 6063, to customer specifications since 1990. Our team has more than 40 years of experience making all types of aluminum extrusions and can manufacture and assemble your extruded aluminum components quickly and cost effectively.

If a custom aluminum extrusion doesn’t satisfy your needs, our inventory of 2,000 standard aluminum extrusion dies includes a wide range of shapes and sizes. By selecting one of our existing dies over fabricating a custom die for their project, customers may see shorter lead times and lower production costs.

While we offer a range of standard extruded aluminum shapes, we specialize in letting you create your own custom aluminum extrusion to suit your specific need. Creating custom aluminum extrusions can result in lower production costs and shorter manufacturing cycles, once your specific die has been created. Visit our Custom Products to learn more.

An Overview of Aluminum Extrusions

The aluminum extrusion process includes the following stages:

  1. Heating a billet of raw aluminum
  2. Inserting a mandrel into the die (for hollow pieces only)
  3. Pushing the material through the extrusion press to take on the required shape.
  4. Cutting the extruded piece
  5. Performing aging, quenching, or heat treatments (if necessary)
  6. Cooling the extrusion
  7. Finishing the extrusion by polishing, anodizing or coating
